This Is Me

Hi, and welcome! My name is Tracey, and I live and work on the outskirts of Sydney, but my heart resides on 25 acres atop the Great Dividing Range in New South Wales, Australia. That place is called Bountiful and life has changed big time since it became part of my life. Check out the story behind Bountiful Life here.

Six years of online study has given me a bad back, too much weight and a Communications degree. I'm currently doing something about the first two but wouldn't swap the third. I expect all three will make appearances on this blog.

University taught me that I love research and writing about Australian life, people and issues. As a lover of print media from way back, I'm hoping to create a blog that gives you a similar experience to the enjoyment of a magazine or the chill out of a Sunday newspaper.

Is 55 too old to start blogging? I'm guessing not!

My motto in life is "Weird is good". Just ask my kids. Said children had flown the coop when I started this blog and I was loving the empty nesting thing I got to do with hubby. It may not be P.C to sprout joy about empty nesting, but I hate political correctness anyway.

However, things change and whilst our daughter is in her own place now, our son is back home after five years overseas. We are all getting used to living together again as three adults rather than two parents and a teenager. We are re-negotiating boundaries, stuffing it up, and laughing a lot - hopefully in equal measure.

At the end of 2018, hubby and I embarked on a journey to better health, so as we progress I'm hoping to share what has worked well for us in terms of diet and exercise. I'm no expert, but if it works, why not share?

I'm a Christian, and love that in Australia I still have the freedom to say so. I pray that never changes.

I was a true dog person until 2011 when a move from city to rural living took me to the other side. Rural has mice. Where there are mice, there must be cats. I now have a cat. Cats rule, OK? (However, present me with a sausage dog and see me become unashamedly gooshy ... )

Music is my second language and always steals my focus. Along with that, I believe there is a song title or lyric for every occasion. I aim to prove it here. For this page, it therefore has to be This is Me from The Greatest Showman. I aspire to that level of courage. If you've never seen this film clip, check it out. It can't fail to bless your heart.
